New Board & Committee Members
The annual GPOA meeting was held on February 20th.  The most important agenda for this meeting was to take nomination from the floor to for the open Board of Directors   position to replace Robert Shaffer, who's term has expired.  Dale Figart, our current Pool        Committee Chairman, was elected to the position.
At the February 4th GPOA meeting Nancy Hight was appointed as the new Committee Chairperson for the Beautification Committee.  Our congratulations and thanks go out to both Dale and Nancy for volunteering.  We would also like to thank Robert Shaffer for his service to the community.  Robert served not only as a Board Member, but also as vice president.
The next meeting is scheduled for March 4th..  All GPOA members are welcome to come and bring ideas, voice concerns, or even better, follow these folk's example and  volunteer.
New Ideas Come From Meeting
Many new ideas came from the annual meeting and with a little community help we think these ideas can be brought to fruition and benefit everyone.
    - John Sabo brought up the idea of collecting Christmas light donations so that we can have lights on the Community Center next Christmas season.  John, who lives across from the Community Center, will accept any donations and has offered to put them up when the season begins.  If you would like to drop any unneeded lights for this cause his address is 9019 Rue De Lis.
    - Barbara Anderson and Tina Rangel would like to build a platform or a sleigh for next year's Santa visit and would like any donated wood for this project.  They need all sizes for framing and any plywood you can donate.  Barbara's phone number is 520-1961.
    - How about donating a Christmas Tree to the Community Center?  If anyone has a Chirstmas tree (any size) that you can do without, please call any board or committee member on the back of the newsletter.  We will arrange a good home for it.
    - John Sabo is trying to get at least 10 signatures from Rue De Lis residents to get the city to come out and investigate putting in a speed hump on that street, preferably somewhere in the vicinity of the Community Center.  That area has been identified by residents and recently during the Neighborhood Sweep as an area with too many speeding vehicles.  This makes it especially dangerous during the summer season when the pool is open, but it is also dangerous to kids because of the playground next to the pool, which is used year round.  If you are interested in helping this effort …
    - Hans Anderson recently headed up the beautification project around the community center and found out that a homeowners association can order mulch from the Bitters Road Brush Shredding Site and it will be delivered by the city.  Although anyone can go to the site for free mulch, the delivery offer is only open to homeowners associations.  So Hans has offered to order either 7 or 12 yards of mulch to be delivered to the community center parking lot if  he can get at least 10 interested residents.  As of the meeting he had 5 sign up.  If you would like to join in for free mulch contact Hans at 520-1961.
Self Improvement Project
On Saturday, February 15th, Hans and Barbara Anderson, Nancy Hight, and John Sabo gave their time and energy toward some self improvement to Association's common areas.  Hans obtained mulch from the Bitters Road Brush Shredding Site and the four of them set the mulch around the plants and trees in the community center and pool area.  Barbara and Nancy are also in the midst of touching up the Guilbeau Park sign at the community center.
