GPOA
Board Approves Annual Budget
The GPOA
Board of Directors approved the annual budget at the November 21st
Association meeting. Proposals for the budget were submitted by committee
and board members over the last four meetings and each item was reviewed
thoroughly. Association members were also asked for input and opinions
of the budget proposals at the annual budget meeting in October and discussions
continued in each meeting since.
A great
deal of effort was spent by Carol Wilson preparing the budget and the Board
reviewing each itemized expense to balance this year's budget.
This
year's budget also includes moving funds from the special repair and maintenance
fund for repairs on our pool. As reported in previous newsletters,
the pool is in need of expensive repairs. It is 18 years old and
starting to show its age. This year we will spend $20,000 to replaster
the pool bottom which is cracking and breaking off, causing cut feet and
putting the structural integrity of the pool at risk. We will also
bring the pool into new Texas safety code compliance by adding tile lane
lines, fixing the edge tile markers, putting a second drain in the baby
pool, and putting in an emergency shut off switch in the pump room.
Other pool repairs will include repairing the cabana roof, new shade covers
for life guards, medical supplies, deck repair, and more. Dale Figart,
pool manager and pool committee chairperson, will head up the efforts.
You can
view the itemized budget either at the management office or by contacting
Carol Wilson, president. |
