Community Equipment Gets Needed Work; More To Do
Non Paying Dues Families Down To 31, But Expenses Keep Going Up
We finally got it done.  Some of the Fourth Of July Pool Party attendees got together to fix a potential safety problem at the playground.  It had been noted at several GPOA     meetings  that one of the playground sets was getting a little wobbly and some feared it might tip over.  On the Fourth they were able to dig out the loose rock underneath, level and    anchor the set down for a solid footing.   Also, Barbara Anderson will soon begin a project to build a small climbing wall on the back side of the playground set.
We also replaced one of the basketball hoops.  Hoops    continue to be a vandalism problem.  We can't figure out who is doing it, but someone big enough to reach the hoops and hang on them is bending the rims and in some cases breaking off the entire hoop from the backboard.  If you see this kind of action please call the police and report it.
The next repair project will be the tennis court nets.  We need a volunteer to sew up the sheathing that covers the net cable.  If anyone is interested in helping please call Carol  Wilson at 681-7770.
We're doing better, but we need more funds to keep everything going in the community.  For        example, the GPOA electric bill for June was  $948.67 and July was 863.00.  This bills covers    electric costs of the pool, basketball and tennis courts, and community center.  As you have seen in your own electric bills, the cost of electricity is going up all over.  So we must cover this and other increased expenses with available funds.
Thirty one non paying dues homes equates to $6200 in lost revenue for the Association.  Not only does this affect the current costs, but there is a       possibility the Association would need to raise      everyone's future dues to cover for the freeloaders.  Don't be a freeloader, pay your dues.
